Are you a seasoned logistics and supply chain professional with a proven track record of optimizing distribution networks in challenging environments? Blanket Mine, a leading gold producer in Zimbabwe and a subsidiary of Caledonia Mining Corporation Plc, is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Distribution Manager to join our dedicated team in Gwanda, Matabeleland South Province.
In this critical role, you will be instrumental in overseeing and enhancing our entire distribution ecosystem, ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and timely flow of materials, equipment, and finished products vital to our mining operations. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive distribution strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize logistics operations.
- Oversee the entire distribution network, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
- Manage and optimize the company's fleet of vehicles, ensuring maintenance schedules, fuel efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing distribution team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with transport companies, suppliers, and service providers to achieve cost efficiencies and service excellence.
- Implement and utilize logistics software and systems (e.g., ERP, WMS, TMS) to enhance operational visibility and efficiency.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for distribution, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure strict compliance with all local, national, and international transport, customs, and safety regulations.
- Develop and manage the distribution budget, controlling costs while maintaining high service levels.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, production, finance, and sales teams to ensure seamless supply chain integration.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in distribution and logistics management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- Demonstrable experience managing large-scale distribution operations, preferably in the mining, manufacturing, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Proven expertise in fleet management, warehouse operations, and inventory control.
- Strong understanding of national and international logistics regulations and customs procedures.
- Proficiency in logistics and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
- Exceptional leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or an MBA.
- Professional certification in Supply Chain (e.g., CSCP, CPIM, CILT).
- Experience working in remote or challenging geographical environments.
- Familiarity with mining industry specific logistics requirements and challenges.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
