Job Description
Econet Wireless Zimbabwe is seeking an accomplished and highly motivated Senior IT Project Lead to join our dynamic technology team in Chitungwiza, Harare Province. This pivotal role involves leading complex IT projects from inception through to successful delivery, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives and adherence to scope, budget, and timeline constraints. The Senior IT Project Lead will be responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, managing cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to drive the implementation of critical IT infrastructure, software development, and system integration initiatives. You will be instrumental in defining project requirements, developing detailed project plans, tracking progress, and mitigating risks proactively. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of multiple concurrent IT projects, from initiation and planning to execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and resource requirements in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including detailed schedules, budgets, risk management strategies, and communication plans.
- Manage and mentor project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment, and assigning tasks effectively.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement proactive mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Facilitate effective communication channels with all project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, challenges, and resolutions.
- Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards, business requirements, and are completed on time and within budget.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors, suppliers, and contractors, ensuring their adherence to contractual agreements and project timelines.
- Conduct post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions to identify areas for process improvement and apply best practices to future projects.
Required Skills
- 7+ years of progressive experience in IT project management, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead capacity.
- Proven experience managing large-scale, complex IT projects in a telecommunications or similar fast-paced industry.
- Strong understanding and practical application of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Asana).
- Excellent leadership, team management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and analytical abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 certification.
- Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I).
