We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Worker to join our Facilities team in Calverley, Leeds. As a pivotal member of our operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning, safety, and aesthetic appeal of our premises. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance checks on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues, diagnosing problems and implementing effective solutions.
- Execute minor repairs across various trades such as carpentry, plastering, painting, and general building fabric maintenance.
- Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify potential hazards or maintenance needs and report findings.
- Maintain exterior grounds, including minor landscaping tasks, pathway upkeep, and waste management.
- Ensure all work adheres to health and safety regulations, company policies, and best practices.
- Manage and organize maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies, ensuring their proper use and storage.
- Assist with the setup and dismantling of equipment for internal events or activities as required.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Liaise with external contractors for specialized repairs or projects when necessary, overseeing their work to ensure quality and compliance.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Worker or in a similar role for at least 2 years (24 months).
- Solid understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC basics).
- Ability to operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and working at heights.
- A valid UK driving license is essential for occasional local travel or errands.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with staff and contractors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant vocational training or certifications (e.g., City & Guilds in a trade, NVQ Level 2 in Facilities Services).
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Basic knowledge of fire safety systems and protocols.
