Job Description
We are seeking a visionary and dynamic Director of Learning & Development to lead the strategic planning, development, and execution of comprehensive learning and development initiatives for Chinhoyi University of Technology. This pivotal role will be instrumental in fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and performance excellence across our academic and administrative staff. The successful candidate will design and implement innovative programs that enhance capabilities, drive engagement, and align with the University’s strategic goals and evolving educational landscape. You will be responsible for identifying skill gaps, creating impactful training curricula, leveraging cutting-edge educational technologies, and measuring the effectiveness of all L&D interventions. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive Learning & Development strategy aligned with the University's strategic objectives and talent management goals.
- Design, develop, and implement innovative learning programs and initiatives, including workshops, online courses, mentorship programs, and leadership development.
- Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify skill gaps and development opportunities for academic and administrative staff.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of L&D programs through robust metrics and reporting, making data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Manage the L&D budget, resources, and external vendor relationships to ensure optimal utilization and impact.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning and professional development across all levels of the University.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging learning technologies, and trends in talent development, integrating relevant innovations into CUT's L&D framework.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, departmental heads, and faculty to ensure L&D initiatives meet specific departmental needs and integrate seamlessly with broader HR strategies.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- Minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, with at least 4 years in a leadership or directorial role.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating large-scale L&D programs.
- Strong understanding of adult learning theories, instructional design principles, and educational technologies.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Strategic planning and project management expertise.
- Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate degree in a relevant field.
- Experience within a higher education institution or a large, complex public sector organization.
- Certification in L&D, instructional design, or talent management (e.g., CPTD, ATD credentials).
- Experience with change management methodologies and organizational development practices.
- Familiarity with national and regional educational policy and labor market trends in Zimbabwe.
