Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to deliver goods, packages, and materials to designated locations.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and driving regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Load and unload delivery items, ensuring proper handling, securing, and organization of cargo to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, delivery times, and recipient signatures.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and customers regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Ensure the cleanliness and general upkeep of the company vehicle at all times.
- Assist with route planning and optimization to maximize efficiency and meet delivery schedules.
- Handle cash or process payments for deliveries when required, ensuring accuracy and security.
- Represent Career.zycto professionally and courteously to all customers and members of the public.
- Report any accidents, incidents, or traffic violations immediately to management.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (preferably with an open general endorsement)
- Clean driving record, free of major accidents or traffic violations
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar transportation role
- Excellent knowledge of Kingston's road networks and traffic patterns
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to lift and carry packages of varying weights (up to 50 lbs)
- Customer service-oriented approach
- Reliability and punctuality
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
- Ability to operate a GPS device and navigation apps
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent G.C.E./CXC passes
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) or delivery management software
- First Aid and defensive driving certification
- Familiarity with various types of delivery vehicles (vans, trucks)
