Econet Wireless is seeking a seasoned and dynamic Senior Onboarding Specialist to join our Human Resources team in Harare. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and continually enhancing our comprehensive onboarding programs for new hires across all departments. As a Senior Onboarding Specialist, you will go beyond the basics of paperwork, focusing on truly integrating new employees into the Econet culture, ensuring they feel welcomed, valued, and equipped with the knowledge and resources necessary to thrive in their roles.
You will be responsible for orchestrating a seamless and engaging onboarding journey, from pre-boarding communications to the crucial first 90 days and beyond. This involves collaborating closely with various stakeholders, including HR Business Partners, hiring managers, IT, and departmental leads, to create tailored onboarding experiences that accelerate time-to-productivity and foster long-term employee retention. Your expertise will be vital in developing and delivering engaging orientation sessions, crafting informative resource materials, and implementing feedback mechanisms to continuously refine our programs.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and continuously improve a holistic and engaging onboarding experience for all new hires, from offer acceptance through their first 90 days.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners, hiring managers, and departmental leads to create tailored onboarding plans and ensure a smooth transition for new employees.
- Conduct engaging new hire orientation sessions, covering company culture, values, policies, and benefits.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive onboarding materials, resources, and tools, including welcome kits, checklists, and online portals.
- Oversee all administrative aspects of onboarding, including documentation, system access provisioning (in collaboration with IT), and initial training coordination.
- Act as a primary point of contact for new hires, addressing questions and providing support throughout their initial tenure.
- Implement feedback mechanisms (surveys, check-ins) to gather insights on the onboarding experience and identify areas for improvement.
- Track and report on key onboarding metrics, such as time-to-productivity, new hire satisfaction, and retention rates, presenting recommendations to HR leadership.
- Champion the company culture and values, ensuring new hires are immersed in Econet's ethos from day one.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the HR department.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (6+ years) in Human Resources, specifically in onboarding, talent acquisition, or employee experience roles.
- Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and compliance related to new hire processes.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities, capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
- High level of empathy, discretion, and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- Relevant HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
- Experience in the telecommunications or technology industry.
- Familiarity with digital learning platforms and e-learning content creation.
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
