Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate assistance to residents with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Monitor residents' well-being, observe changes in their condition, and report any concerns promptly to supervisory staff.
- Administer medication reminders as per facility protocols and assist residents with self-administration when necessary.
- Organize and facilitate engaging recreational and social activities to promote residents' mental and physical stimulation.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized living environment for residents, including light housekeeping duties.
- Assist with meal preparation, serving, and clean-up, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met.
- Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere, encouraging residents' independence and participation.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of residents' care and activities.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with residents, their families, and other team members.
- Respond to emergencies and provide immediate assistance as required, following established procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven empathy and compassion for elderly or dependent individuals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to care plans diligently
- Strong observational and problem-solving abilities
- Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude
- Basic first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (1+ year) in a residential care facility, assisted living, or similar healthcare setting
- Relevant certifications in caregiving, nursing aide (CNA), or social support
- Knowledge of basic hygiene and infection control practices
- Experience with crisis intervention or de-escalation techniques
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for record-keeping
