Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems & Maintenance to join our growing team in Bishopston, Bristol. This pivotal role involves overseeing the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex electrical power systems, ensuring operational reliability and efficiency. You will play a crucial part in managing both high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) distribution networks, critical infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement electrical power systems for various industrial and commercial applications.
- Conduct comprehensive analysis and calculations for power distribution, fault levels, protective relay settings, and load flow studies.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on HV/LV switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and associated control equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical issues, ensuring prompt and effective resolution to minimize operational downtime.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant British Standards (BS), IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), and health and safety legislation.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in power systems design, maintenance, and fault finding.
- Strong understanding of HV and LV electrical distribution systems, including protection schemes and switchgear.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, Amtech).
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., BS 7671, HSG230).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Power Systems Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it.
- Experience with SCADA systems and industrial automation.
- HV/LV switching authorization or equivalent certification.
