As the Director of Content Operations, you will be at the forefront of crafting compelling narratives that showcase the profound impact of our work. You will oversee the end-to-end content lifecycle, from ideation and creation to distribution and performance analysis. This includes developing high-quality written, visual, and multimedia content that resonates with diverse audiences, including donors, partners, government stakeholders, and the communities we serve. You will ensure all content aligns with World Vision’s global brand guidelines and strategic objectives, maintaining a consistent voice and message that effectively communicates our values and mission.

You will lead, mentor, and inspire a talented team of content creators, editors, and digital specialists, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement. This role demands a strong understanding of digital content trends, SEO best practices, and analytics to optimize content for maximum reach and impact. You will collaborate closely with various departments, including fundraising, communications, advocacy, and program teams, to identify content opportunities, support campaigns, and translate complex program information into accessible and engaging stories.

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in content leadership, particularly within the non-profit or international development sector. You will possess exceptional editorial judgment, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy aligned with World Vision Zimbabwe's strategic goals and brand guidelines.
  • Oversee the entire content production process, from conceptualization and planning to creation, editing, publishing, and promotion across various platforms.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of content creators, editors, and digital specialists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Ensure all content adheres to high editorial standards, brand voice, messaging, and compliance requirements.
  • Utilize data and analytics to monitor content performance, identify trends, and iterate on strategies for continuous improvement and maximum impact.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with fundraising, communications, advocacy, and program teams to identify content opportunities and support key campaigns.
  • Manage content budgets, resources, and timelines effectively to deliver projects on schedule and within scope.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging content trends, and digital technologies to maintain World Vision Zimbabwe's competitive edge in content engagement.
  • Represent World Vision Zimbabwe as a content expert in internal and external forums, fostering partnerships and sharing insights.
  • Develop and manage content calendars, ensuring a steady stream of engaging and relevant content.
  • Champion innovative storytelling techniques to effectively communicate the impact of our work.
  • Oversee content asset management and ensure content is accessible and organized for reuse and repurposing.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (10+ years) in a senior content leadership role, preferably within an NGO or international development context.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing successful content strategies across multiple channels (web, social, print, video).
  • Exceptional editorial skills, including writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, SEO principles, content management systems (CMS), and analytics tools.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse content team.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strategic thinking with a creative mindset and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience working with international stakeholders and diverse cultural contexts.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing tools.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian and development issues in Zimbabwe and the broader region.
