Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the long-term R&D strategy, aligning it with company objectives and market needs.
- Lead, mentor, and expand a high-performing team of scientists and researchers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and successful completion of all research and development projects from conception to implementation.
- Identify, evaluate, and integrate new technologies, methodologies, and scientific advancements relevant to agricultural innovation.
- Manage the R&D budget, resources, and timelines effectively to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within financial parameters.
- Establish and maintain robust intellectual property strategies, including patent filings and trade secret protection.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product development, operations, sales, and marketing teams to ensure seamless transition of R&D outputs into commercial products.
- Ensure all research activities comply with relevant regulatory standards, safety protocols, and ethical guidelines.

- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform R&D priorities and opportunities.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in R&D, with at least 5 years in a leadership or directorial role.
- Proven track record of successfully leading complex research projects from concept to commercialization.
- Strong understanding of agricultural practices, crop science, and sustainable farming technologies.
- Exceptional leadership, team-building, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage R&D budgets and resources effectively.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of Shona or Ndau is an advantage.
