Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Grounds Attendant to join our vibrant team at Mohale’s Hoek Hotel & Gardens. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general landscaping duties including mowing, weeding, planting, watering, fertilizing, raking, and pruning.
- Maintain all lawns, flowerbeds, shrubs, and trees to ensure a neat and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
- Operate and maintain various landscaping equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Ensure the cleanliness of all outdoor areas, including pathways, parking lots, and recreational spaces, by removing litter, debris, and fallen leaves.
- Assist with irrigation system checks, minor repairs, and adjustments to ensure optimal watering of grounds.
- Monitor the health of plants and turf, identifying and reporting any signs of disease, pests, or damage to management.
- Prepare outdoor areas for special events, conferences, or seasonal changes as required.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and guidelines when using tools, equipment, and chemicals.
- Collaborate effectively with other grounds staff and hotel departments to coordinate tasks and achieve common goals.
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or concerns regarding the grounds promptly to the supervisor.
- Contribute to snow and ice removal during winter months if applicable.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to perform prolonged manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of gardening, plant care, and landscape maintenance practices.
- Ability to safely operate common landscaping tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and appearance.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a similar outdoor maintenance role.

- Familiarity with local plant species and environmental conditions.
- Certifications in horticulture or landscape maintenance.
