Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for critical materials, equipment, and services.
- Conduct comprehensive market analysis, supplier identification, and qualification processes.
- Lead complex contract negotiations with vendors to secure favorable terms, conditions, and pricing.
- Manage and optimize supplier relationships, including performance evaluation and dispute resolution.
- Ensure strict adherence to procurement policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., operations, engineering, finance) to understand needs and ensure timely delivery.
- Monitor global and local market trends, supply chain risks, and regulatory changes relevant to the mining industry.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on procurement activities, performance, and forecasts.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior procurement staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in procurement, with at least 2 years in a senior role within a heavy industrial or mining sector.
- Demonstrable expertise in strategic sourcing, vendor management, and contract negotiation.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and adherence to ethical procurement practices.
- Proficiency in relevant ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CSCP).
- Experience with international procurement and supply chain logistics.
- Understanding of Zimbabwean import/export regulations and local content requirements.
- Familiarity with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations in procurement.
