Job Description
We are seeking an exceptionally talented and highly motivated Senior Data Warehouse Specialist to join our dynamic IT team at Blanket Mine. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining our enterprise data warehouse solutions. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of critical business data, enabling insightful reporting and advanced analytics that drive strategic decision-making across all facets of our mining operations – from production and finance to safety and HR.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain scalable and high-performance enterprise data warehouse solutions.
- Develop and optimize complex ETL processes using various tools and scripting languages to extract, transform, and load data from diverse source systems into the data warehouse.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into technical specifications and data models.
- Perform data modeling (dimensional and relational) to support business intelligence and analytical needs.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security within the data warehouse environment.
- Monitor data warehouse performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for optimization.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data warehouse architecture, data models, ETL processes, and reports.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior team members.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends in data warehousing and business intelligence.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of data governance policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in data warehousing, ETL development, and data modeling.
- Proficiency in SQL (T-SQL, PL/SQL, or similar) with advanced querying and scripting skills.
- Demonstrable experience with at least one major ETL tool (e.g., SSIS, Informatica, Talend, DataStage).
- Strong understanding of dimensional modeling (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema) and data warehousing concepts.
- Experience with relational database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
- Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience with cloud-based data warehousing platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse Analytics).
- Knowledge of data governance, master data management (MDM), and data quality frameworks.
- Experience in the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Certified Data Management Professional – CDMP).
