Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Accounts Payable Clerk to join our growing finance team based in St Werburghs, Bristol. In this position, you will be responsible for a full spectrum of accounts payable duties, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, managing supplier statements, and reconciling vendor accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process high volumes of invoices accurately and efficiently, matching them to purchase orders and goods received notes.
  • Verify proper authorisation for all expenditures and ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Prepare and execute weekly and monthly payment runs for vendor invoices, ensuring timely payments.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, investigate discrepancies, and resolve payment issues promptly.
  • Maintain organised electronic and physical filing systems for all accounts payable documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors and internal departments regarding invoice and payment inquiries.
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures related to accounts payable.
  • Support the finance team with ad-hoc projects and reporting as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the accounts payable process.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in an Accounts Payable role (minimum 2 years).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks).
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AAT qualification or working towards it.
  • Experience with enterprise-level ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
