Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Estate Facility Technician to join our growing team in Maryland, Lagos. As an integral part of our property management operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning, maintenance, and repair of all facilities and infrastructure within assigned estates. This role requires a hands-on approach, keen attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve a wide array of technical issues promptly and efficiently. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on all estate facilities, including electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical equipment.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents/tenants and troubleshoot issues such as power outages, water leaks, faulty appliances, and structural repairs.
  • Conduct daily inspections of common areas, utility rooms, mechanical plant rooms, and other critical infrastructure to identify and address potential problems.
  • Carry out minor carpentry, painting, masonry, and plastering work as required to maintain the aesthetic and structural integrity of properties.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards, building codes, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or projects, overseeing their work to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory of tools and spare parts.
  • Assist in the installation of new equipment or systems and participate in facility upgrade projects.
  • Monitor utility consumption and identify opportunities for energy efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior staff or other team members as needed.
  • Be available for emergency call-outs outside regular working hours when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a facility technician or similar role in an estate or property management setting.
  • Strong technical skills in electrical systems (troubleshooting, repairs, installations).
  • Proficiency in plumbing repairs (pipes, fixtures, drainage systems).
  • Competence in general building maintenance, including carpentry, painting, and basic masonry.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve HVAC issues.
  • Good understanding of safety procedures and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OND/HND/Trade Test Certificate in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Technology.
  • Certification in specific trades (e.g., HVAC, Electrical wiring).
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Lagos.
  • Valid Nigerian driver's license.
