The Director of Fleet Management will be instrumental in overseeing the entire lifecycle of Nyaradzo’s diverse fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment, which includes passenger vehicles, specialized funeral service vehicles, logistics trucks, and construction machinery. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive fleet management strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the acquisition, maintenance, repair, and disposal of all company vehicles and equipment, ensuring optimal asset utilization and lifecycle management.
  • Implement advanced telematics, GPS tracking, and fleet management software to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and compliance.
  • Manage fleet budgets, monitor expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities related to fuel, maintenance, insurance, and vehicle procurement.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all national transport regulations, environmental standards, and company safety protocols.
  • Lead and mentor a team of fleet managers, mechanics, and drivers, fostering a high-performance culture focused on safety, efficiency, and professional development.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for fleet operations, analyzing data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Develop and implement robust preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan.
  • Oversee driver management programs, including training, performance monitoring, and compliance with company policies.

Required Skills

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in fleet management, logistics, or transportation, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning and execution capabilities for large-scale fleet operations.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and ROI analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle maintenance, procurement, and supply chain best practices.
  • Proficiency with fleet management software, telematics systems, and data analytics tools.
  • Thorough understanding of Zimbabwean transport regulations, safety standards, and environmental compliance.
  • Exceptional leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a significant advantage.
  • Professional certification in Fleet Management (e.g., Certified Fleet Manager – CFM).
  • Experience with heavy equipment and specialized vehicle fleets.
