Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Remote Graphic Production Artist to join our team on a freelance, contract basis. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in preparing print-ready and digital-ready files for a wide array of projects, ensuring absolute accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines. This position requires an expert eye for detail, a deep understanding of pre-press processes, and advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
As a Remote Graphic Production Artist, you will translate creative concepts into polished, technically sound deliverables. Your daily tasks will involve meticulously reviewing artwork, making necessary adjustments for color correction, typography, image resolution, and file format optimization. You will work independently from your home office, managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining open communication with our project managers and design team. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare print-ready files for various print methods (offset, digital, large format) including proper bleeds, crops, color modes, and file specifications.
- Optimize digital assets for web, social media, and other digital platforms, ensuring correct sizing, resolution, and file formats.
- Perform meticulous quality control checks on all artwork, identifying and correcting any errors in layout, typography, color, and imagery.
- Ensure strict adherence to client brand guidelines, corporate identity standards, and project specifications across all deliverables.
- Retouch and color correct images as needed to meet project requirements and maintain visual consistency.
- Manage and organize digital assets efficiently, maintaining an organized file structure and version control.
- Collaborate effectively with designers, project managers, and clients (when necessary) to clarify project requirements and provide technical guidance.
- Manage workload and prioritize projects to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Stay current with industry best practices, software updates, and emerging technologies in graphic production.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for design and production-related issues.
Required Skills
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro)
- Strong understanding of print production processes, pre-press, and print terminology (CMYK, spot colors, RIPs)
- Demonstrable experience with file optimization for various digital platforms (RGB, web resolutions, social media specs)
- Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for layout, typography, and color accuracy
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet strict deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability to new challenges
- Proficiency in font management and licensing best practices
- Experience with digital asset management (DAM) systems or robust file organization strategies
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field
- 3+ years of professional experience as a Graphic Production Artist, Pre-press Technician, or similar role
- Experience working with variable data printing (VDP)
- Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello)
- A strong portfolio showcasing a wide range of production-ready work across print and digital media
