Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an exceptional and visionary Director of Learning & Development to lead our talent enhancement initiatives in Centenary, Mashonaland Central Province. This pivotal role is perfect for a strategic leader passionate about cultivating a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within a diverse organizational landscape. You will be responsible for defining the overarching L&D strategy, designing and implementing innovative programs that align with our business objectives, and ensuring our workforce is equipped with the skills necessary to excel in an evolving market. This includes everything from leadership development and technical upskilling to soft skills training and career pathing. You’ll partner closely with senior leadership and department heads to identify skill gaps, forecast future training needs, and champion best practices in adult learning methodologies. We are looking for someone who can not only craft compelling learning experiences but also measure their impact, driving demonstrable improvements in performance and engagement. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Learning & Development strategy aligned with organizational goals and future workforce needs.
  • Design, implement, and manage a wide range of learning programs, including leadership development, technical skills training, onboarding, and continuous professional development.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify skill gaps and areas for improvement across all levels of the organization.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of L&D programs through robust metrics and analytics, reporting on ROI and making data-driven improvements.
  • Champion innovative learning methodologies and technologies (e.g., e-learning platforms, blended learning, microlearning, gamification).
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including HR, operations, and senior leadership, to ensure L&D initiatives are integrated and supported.
  • Manage the L&D budget, resources, and vendor relationships efficiently.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing throughout the company.
  • Mentor and develop a small team of L&D professionals, if applicable.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (10+ years) in a senior L&D leadership role, preferably as a Director.
  • Demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and evaluating large-scale learning programs.
  • Expertise in adult learning principles, instructional design, and various training methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of learning technologies and HRIS integration.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate business needs into effective learning solutions.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting on L&D program effectiveness.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
  • Certifications in recognized learning and development methodologies (e.g., ATD CPLP).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, evolving industry or consulting environment.
  • Familiarity with the Zimbabwean talent market and unique regional development needs.
