Key Responsibilities
- Process a wide range of pension scheme events accurately and efficiently, including joiners, leavers, retirements, transfers, and deaths.
- Perform complex benefit calculations (e.g., revaluations, increases, transfers out) ensuring full compliance with scheme rules and legislation.
- Respond to member and trustee queries via phone, email, and letter, providing clear, concise, and professional information.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date member records on administration systems, performing regular data reconciliations.
- Assist with annual renewals, benefit statements, trustee reports, and other cyclical administration tasks.
- Interpret and apply scheme rules and legislative requirements, including GDPR and the Pensions Act, to all aspects of administration.
- Identify, investigate, and escalate complex issues or potential risks to senior colleagues, proposing solutions where appropriate.
- Contribute to continuous process improvements and system enhancements to optimise efficiency and service delivery.
- Participate actively in training and development to enhance personal knowledge and skills in pension administration.
- Support colleagues and foster a collaborative remote working environment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in UK pension administration for Defined Benefit and/or Defined Contribution schemes.
- Strong understanding of current UK pension legislation and regulatory framework.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all work performed.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, capable of complex calculations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and maintain productivity in a remote working environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving aptitude and a proactive approach to challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., PMI Award, Certificate, or Diploma in Pensions Administration).
- Experience with specific pension administration software platforms (e.g., Altair, Profund).
- Previous experience in a client-facing or advisory role within pensions.
- Familiarity with pension scheme accounting principles and financial reporting.
