Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in the design of civil engineering structures, including buildings, roads, drainage systems, and water infrastructure.
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering calculations, specifications, reports, and detailed construction drawings using relevant software.
  • Conduct site investigations, surveys, and feasibility studies to inform design decisions and project planning.
  • Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, safety protocols, and project schedules.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions to mitigate risks and delays.
  • Collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, clients, and regulatory authorities throughout project phases.
  • Perform quality control inspections and reviews of work in progress and completed projects.
  • Manage project documentation, including change orders, RFI's, and progress reports.
  • Ensure all projects comply with local building codes, environmental regulations, and international engineering standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and site staff.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a strong focus on both design and construction management.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS).
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • In-depth knowledge of Mauritian building codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Valid driving license and ability to travel to various project sites across Mauritius.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent professional accreditation (e.g., registered with the Council of Registered Professional Engineers of Mauritius).
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6).
  • Familiarity with sustainable design practices and green building certifications.
  • Prior experience working on diverse projects such as residential, commercial, and infrastructure developments.
