Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive R&D strategy aligned with Career.zycto’s overall business goals and market opportunities in Matabeleland South.
- Lead, manage, and mentor a diverse team of R&D professionals, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance work environment.
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle from concept generation and feasibility studies to prototyping, testing, and successful commercialization.
- Manage the R&D budget effectively, ensuring optimal resource allocation and return on investment for all research initiatives.
- Identify, evaluate, and integrate new technologies, methodologies, and scientific advancements relevant to our industry and regional context.
- Establish and maintain robust intellectual property strategies, including patent applications and trade secret protection.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, operations, and regulatory teams to ensure seamless product launch and market acceptance.
- Ensure all R&D activities comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and ethical guidelines.
- Represent Career.zycto in scientific forums, conferences, and with key stakeholders, building strategic partnerships and enhancing our industry presence.
- Drive continuous improvement in R&D processes, methodologies, and outcomes to maximize efficiency and innovation.
Required Skills
- PhD in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Computer Science).
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in Research & Development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or directorial role.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully leading R&D projects from conception to commercialization.
- Strong understanding of scientific principles, research methodologies, and product development cycles.
- Exceptional leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.
- Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in project management software and R&D specific tools.
