Job Description

You will be instrumental in processing a variety of banking transactions with meticulous accuracy, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and cheque cashing, while strictly adhering to all regulatory and internal compliance procedures.

Beyond the transactional aspects, a significant part of your day will involve active customer engagement. You’ll confidently answer account inquiries, assist with basic product information, and diligently resolve minor customer concerns, escalating more complex issues to the appropriate personnel. Your ability to listen attentively, communicate clearly, and empathise with customer needs will be paramount in building trust and fostering loyalty. This role also presents opportunities to identify customer needs for other banking services, gently introducing them to solutions that can enhance their financial well-being, such as savings accounts, credit cards, or online banking tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently, including deposits, withdrawals, cheque cashing, money orders, and loan payments.
  • Balance cash drawer daily, ensuring all transactions are accounted for and discrepancies are promptly resolved.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and assisting with account information in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Identify opportunities to refer customers to other banking products and services, acting as a first point of contact for financial solutions.
  • Adhere strictly to all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements, including anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer information and bank operations.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures for the branch, including cash vault duties as assigned.
  • Educate customers on alternative banking channels such as online banking, mobile banking, and ATMs.
  • Collaborate with branch team members to achieve customer service goals and operational efficiency.
  • Process incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail and packages.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a customer service role, ideally within a cash-handling environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in processing transactions.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic proficiency in computer systems and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
