Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled Pipefitters with the installation, assembly, modification, and repair of various piping systems and related components.
  • Prepare work sites by setting up equipment, gathering necessary tools, and ensuring materials are readily available.
  • Transport pipes, fittings, valves, and other materials to and from designated work areas.
  • Clean and prepare pipes, fittings, and surfaces for joining, including cutting, grinding, and deburring.
  • Hold, position, and secure pipes, fittings, and fixtures during assembly and installation.
  • Assist in the excavation and backfilling of trenches for underground pipe laying.
  • Perform general labour duties, including digging, lifting, carrying, and cleaning up work sites.
  • Learn and practice safe handling of tools and equipment, including pipe wrenches, cutters, threaders, and various power tools.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations at all times.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any malfunctions or damage.
  • Support the team in troubleshooting and resolving minor issues related to piping systems.
  • Participate actively in team meetings and safety briefings.

Required Skills

  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding manual labour, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Strong willingness to learn and follow instructions from skilled tradespeople.
  • Basic familiarity with hand and power tools is an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a cooperative and supportive manner.
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety and following safety protocols.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Good communication skills to interact with team members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a construction, plumbing, or general labour role (even informal experience is valued).
  • Vocational training or certification in plumbing, pipefitting, or a related trade is a significant plus.
  • Knowledge of basic pipefitting materials and tools.
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints or schematics.
