Key Responsibilities
- Manage all accounting transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS/GAAP.
- Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports.
- Reconcile bank statements, ledgers, and other financial data to ensure accuracy.
- Process invoices, payroll, and expense reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and submit statutory reports, including VAT, PAYE, and NSSF.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Develop and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Contribute to the budget preparation and forecasting processes.
- Provide financial analysis and reports to management for decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and laws.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in an accounting role
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling)
- In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or local GAAP
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA (K) certification or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., ACCA)
- Experience with an ERP system specific to a particular industry
- Knowledge of tax regulations in Kenya
