Job Description
Kukura Civil Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Commercial Roofer to join our dynamic construction team in Murambinda, Manicaland Province. As a Commercial Roofer, you will be instrumental in the successful completion of various roofing projects for commercial and industrial structures, ranging from new installations on emerging businesses to crucial repairs on existing facilities. This role requires a professional who is not only proficient in a wide variety of roofing systems but also deeply committed to safety, quality craftsmanship, and capable of working efficiently both independently and as an integral part of a crew. Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain various commercial roofing systems, including but not limited to TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, and metal roofing.
- Prepare roof surfaces by removing old roofing materials, debris, and performing minor carpentry repairs.
- Measure and cut roofing materials to fit roof dimensions and angles accurately.
- Apply roofing membranes, insulation, and flashing according to manufacturer specifications and project blueprints.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Inspect roof integrity and identify potential issues, leaks, or damage.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols, local building codes, and industry best practices.
- Work collaboratively with other team members, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure project completion on schedule and within budget.
- Maintain a clean and organized work site, ensuring proper disposal of waste materials.
- Provide regular updates on project progress and report any deviations or concerns to the site supervisor.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay updated on new roofing techniques and safety standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in commercial roofing installation, repair, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in working with various roofing materials and systems (e.g., TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen, metal).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
- Strong understanding of roofing construction principles and safety procedures.
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to all health and safety regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license preferred (Class 4 or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or certification in roofing or a related trade.
- Experience with green roofing systems or solar panel integration on commercial roofs.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations specific to roofing in Zimbabwe.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Familiarity with operating forklifts, aerial lifts, or other heavy equipment relevant to roofing work.
