Career.zycto is seeking an exceptionally talented and visionary Director of Research & Development to lead our client’s innovation efforts in Gweru, Midlands Province. This pivotal role demands a strategic leader with a proven track record in driving technological advancement and product development within an industrial or manufacturing context. As the Director of R&D, you will be instrumental in defining and executing the long-term R&D strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and market demands. You will oversee the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept and feasibility studies to prototyping, testing, and successful market launch.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the long-term R&D strategy, aligning it with company vision and market needs.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of R&D professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation and concept to prototyping, testing, and commercialization.
- Manage the R&D budget effectively, ensuring optimal resource allocation and project prioritization.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies, materials, and processes to enhance product offerings and operational efficiency.
- Establish and maintain strong intellectual property (IP) protection strategies for new developments.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, manufacturing, marketing, and sales teams to ensure successful product launches.
- Ensure all R&D activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality control protocols.
- Present R&D progress, challenges, and opportunities to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback to inform strategic decisions.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in R&D, with at least 5 years in a leadership/director role.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful R&D strategies and roadmaps.
- Proven track record of bringing innovative products from concept to market.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in mentoring and developing scientific talent.
- Excellent project management capabilities, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Deep understanding of intellectual property management and patent processes.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
