Job Description
We are seeking a diligent, vigilant, and responsible Watchman for night duty at a prominent building in Glen Park, Vacoas-Phoenix. This critical role involves ensuring the safety and security of the premises, assets, and occupants during nighttime hours. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of responsibility, excellent observational skills, and the ability to act calmly and effectively in various situations. Your primary objective will be to prevent unauthorized access, deter criminal activity, and report any irregularities or incidents promptly. This position requires a commitment to maintaining a secure environment and working independently throughout the night shift. You will be an integral part of our security team, contributing directly to the peace of mind and operational continuity of our clients. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of the building and premises, both interior and exterior, to ensure all areas are secure.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems to detect and respond to any suspicious activities or breaches.
- Control access to the building, verifying identification and logging visitors/vehicles as per established procedures.
- Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, or any disturbances, following prescribed protocols.
- Record and report all incidents, unusual occurrences, and security breaches in detail.
- Ensure all doors, windows, and gates are securely locked and unlocked at designated times.
- Provide basic assistance to occupants or visitors as needed, while maintaining security focus.
- Maintain a detailed logbook of all activities, patrols, and relevant information during the shift.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with day shift security personnel to ensure a seamless handover of duties and information.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a security or watchman role, preferably in a corporate or commercial setting.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to operate surveillance equipment and security systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Sound judgment and decision-making abilities, especially under pressure.
- Physical fitness to perform duties including walking, standing for long periods, and occasional lifting.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mauritius Qualifications Authority (MQA) accredited security training certification.
- Previous experience with G4S or another reputable security firm.
- Valid driving license (private car or motorcycle).
- Familiarity with local security regulations and protocols.
- Proficiency in both English and French.
