Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Logistics Driver to join our dynamic team in Centenary, Mashonaland Central Province. This pivotal role is essential to maintaining the seamless flow of our supply chain, ensuring that our products reach their destinations safely, efficiently, and on schedule. As a Logistics Driver, you will be responsible for the transportation of goods from our distribution centres to various retail outlets, warehouses, and other designated locations across the region and beyond. You will operate commercial vehicles with precision and care, adhering strictly to all traffic regulations and company safety protocols. Beyond simply driving, this role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a strong commitment to customer service as you will often be the face of our company to our clients and partners.

Your day-to-day will involve meticulously planning routes, loading and unloading cargo, performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, and accurately completing delivery paperwork. We are looking for an individual who takes pride in their work, is reliable, punctual, and possesses a solid understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety standards. You will be instrumental in ensuring product integrity during transit, handling documentation such as waybills and delivery notes, and proactively communicating any delays or issues encountered on the road. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate commercial vehicles to transport goods as per delivery schedules.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all systems are in good working order.
  • Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit.
  • Plan and execute optimal delivery routes, considering traffic, road conditions, and delivery deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance issues.
  • Adhere strictly to all national traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery status and potential delays.
  • Conduct routine vehicle cleaning and basic maintenance checks.
  • Resolve minor delivery issues and escalate complex problems to supervisors as needed.
  • Represent the company professionally during all interactions with clients and the public.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class 1 or 2 Driver's License (heavy-duty vehicles) with a clean driving record.
  • Proven experience in commercial vehicle operation and logistics.
  • Excellent knowledge of Zimbabwean traffic laws and road safety regulations.
  • Strong geographical knowledge of Centenary and surrounding Mashonaland Central Province.
  • Ability to perform manual labour, including lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy items.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in completing paperwork.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Defensive driving certification.
  • Experience with various types of commercial vehicles (e.g., rigid trucks, articulated vehicles).
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route optimization software.
  • First Aid and Fire Safety training.
  • Customer service experience in a logistics or delivery context.
