Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security systems and tools (SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS) for suspicious activities, anomalies, and potential security breaches.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of security events, alerts, and logs to identify, assess, and prioritize potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Perform incident response activities, including investigation, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident analysis.
- Develop, implement, and fine-tune threat detection rules, use cases, and playbooks within our security information and event management (SIEM) platform.
- Participate in vulnerability management activities, including scanning, assessment, and coordinating remediation efforts.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of security policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, attack vectors, and industry best practices, integrating new knowledge into our defense strategies.
- Provide expert recommendations for security enhancements and improvements to existing systems and processes.
- Collaborate with IT operations, network teams, and other stakeholders to implement security controls and address identified risks.
- Prepare detailed reports on security incidents, vulnerabilities, and overall security posture for management review.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Cybersecurity Analyst or similar role with a focus on threat detection and incident response.
- Strong understanding of security principles, common attack techniques, and defense strategies.
- Proficiency with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel) for log analysis and alert correlation.
- Experience with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions and network intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
- Familiarity with common operating systems (Windows, Linux) and network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and analysis.
- Understanding of cloud security concepts (AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CEH, CISSP, GSEC, or GCIH.
- Experience with forensic tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of risk management frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, PCI DSS).
