Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage daily construction site operations, ensuring efficient progress and adherence to project schedules.
- Supervise on-site personnel, subcontractors, and vendors, providing guidance and resolving any operational issues.
- Ensure all work is performed in strict compliance with project specifications, architectural drawings, and local building codes.
- Implement and enforce rigorous health and safety protocols, conducting regular site inspections and toolbox talks to maintain a safe working environment.
- Monitor project budget and resources, identifying potential cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
- Coordinate the delivery and proper storage of materials and equipment, ensuring availability when needed.
- Maintain accurate and detailed site records, including daily logs, progress reports, and incident reports.
- Act as the primary point of contact for on-site communications, liaising effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and regulatory bodies.
- Conduct quality control checks at various stages of construction to ensure workmanship meets the highest standards.
- Proactively identify and resolve construction challenges, applying effective problem-solving skills to minimize delays.
- Assist in the preparation of project close-out documents and ensure final inspections are completed successfully.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a Construction Supervisor or similar role in civil construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, and industry best practices.
- In-depth understanding of local building codes, safety regulations, and quality control standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage diverse teams.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Competency in using basic project management software (e.g., MS Project) and reporting tools.
- Valid Mauritian driver's license.
- First Aid and basic safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH).
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience with various types of construction projects, including commercial, residential, or infrastructure.
- Proficiency in both English and French/Mauritian Creole.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
