Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise daily vehicle routes for maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness, considering traffic, road closures, and specific delivery time windows.
- Allocate vehicles and drivers to specific routes, ensuring full compliance with legal regulations (e.g., driver hours, vehicle weights) and company policies.
- Monitor real-time transport operations, making proactive adjustments to schedules and routes as needed to address unforeseen issues or changes.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with drivers, clients, and internal teams regarding delivery schedules, potential delays, and critical operational updates.
- Utilise advanced transport management systems (TMS) and other planning software to generate comprehensive reports, analyse performance data, and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage vehicle maintenance schedules and ensure all fleet documentation is current, compliant, and readily accessible.
- Conduct regular reviews of transport plans to identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in fuel efficiency, driver productivity, and overall service quality.
- Address and resolve logistical issues and customer queries related to transport operations efficiently and professionally, maintaining high service standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Transport Planner or in a similar logistical role.
- Strong geographical knowledge of London and the surrounding areas.
- Proficiency in using transport management systems (TMS) and route optimisation software.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for data analysis and reporting.
