Job Description
The Fleet Manager – Vehicle Maintenance & Staff Scheduling plays a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and efficiency of our entire vehicle fleet while meticulously managing driver and operational staff rosters. Based in our bustling Spitalfields hub, you will be instrumental in overseeing all aspects of vehicle lifecycle management, from procurement and routine maintenance to repair and eventual decommissioning. This critical position demands a hands-on approach to both mechanical upkeep and complex human resource scheduling, ensuring seamless operations that directly impact our service delivery and client satisfaction.
You will be the primary point of contact for all fleet-related matters, working closely with various departments to understand operational needs and proactively address potential issues. Your expertise will be vital in developing and implementing robust preventative maintenance programs, identifying cost-effective repair solutions, and ensuring strict compliance with all road safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. This includes managing relationships with external service providers, negotiating contracts, and scrutinizing service quality to guarantee maximum value.
Beyond the vehicles themselves, a significant component of this role involves the strategic scheduling of our diverse operational staff, including drivers, mechanics, and support personnel. This requires an acute understanding of labor laws, shift patterns, peak demand periods, and individual competencies to create efficient, fair, and compliant rotas. You’ll be responsible for minimizing overtime, managing holiday requests, sick leave, and unexpected absences, all while maintaining optimal staffing levels to meet service commitments.
