Key Responsibilities
- Operate passenger buses safely and efficiently along designated routes within Deptford and surrounding areas.
- Adhere strictly to published timetables and schedules, ensuring punctuality and minimizing delays.
- Provide excellent customer service, assisting passengers with enquiries, fares, and accessibility needs.
- Conduct pre-service vehicle checks and report any defects or safety concerns promptly.
- Collect fares and issue tickets accurately, managing cash and electronic payment systems.
- Maintain a clean and tidy bus interior, ensuring a pleasant travel experience for all passengers.
- Manage passenger behaviour and resolve minor conflicts professionally and calmly.
- Comply with all traffic laws, company policies, and health and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with control centres regarding operational issues, incidents, or emergencies.
- Complete all necessary paperwork, including daily log sheets and incident reports.
- Assist passengers with disabilities, ensuring safe boarding and alighting procedures.
Required Skills
- Full UK PCV (Category D) driving license with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification.
- Proven experience in bus or coach driving, preferably in an urban environment.
- Excellent knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Sound geographical knowledge of London, particularly South East areas.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- A clean and professional appearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience operating buses on Transport for London (TfL) routes.
- Familiarity with Deptford and surrounding London boroughs.
- First Aid certification.
