Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently load and unload passenger baggage, cargo, and mail onto and from aircraft, ensuring correct weight distribution and secure storage.
  • Operate and maintain ground support equipment (GSE) such as baggage tugs, belt loaders, and pushback tractors safely and according to protocol.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking procedures, including guiding them to gates, verifying boarding passes, and providing clear instructions.
  • Coordinate with flight crew, gate agents, and other ground personnel to ensure timely aircraft turnaround and departure.
  • Adhere strictly to all airport safety regulations, security procedures, and company policies, reporting any incidents or concerns promptly.
  • Perform routine checks and report any maintenance issues with ground equipment or facilities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, assisting passengers with inquiries, special needs, or concerns related to baggage or boarding.
  • Work collaboratively within a team to ensure all operational targets and deadlines are met.
  • Handle special baggage requirements, including oversized items, fragile goods, or restricted articles, with care and precision.
  • Participate in mandatory safety briefings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and regulatory changes.

Required Skills

  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy luggage (up to 25kg) and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict safety and security protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, often under pressure.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse colleagues.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading manifests and operating equipment.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an airport environment, logistics, or a physically demanding role.
  • Valid UK driving license (desirable for operating some GSE).
  • Knowledge of aviation security procedures and airside safety regulations.
  • Experience operating ground support equipment (GSE).
  • Certification in First Aid or relevant safety training.
