Key Responsibilities
- Operate public buses safely and efficiently along designated routes and schedules in the Mont Roches, Rose Hill area and beyond.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, NTC policies, and safety regulations at all times.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, reporting any mechanical issues or defects promptly.
- Provide excellent customer service to passengers, assisting with inquiries, directions, and ensuring a pleasant journey.
- Manage fare collection accurately, issue tickets, and reconcile daily takings as per company procedures.
- Maintain a clean and tidy bus interior, ensuring passenger comfort and hygiene.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and other team members regarding route status, delays, or incidents.
- Handle unexpected situations, such as breakdowns or medical emergencies, calmly and professionally, following established protocols.
- Assist passengers with disabilities or special needs in boarding and alighting the bus.
- Represent NTC professionally, promoting a positive image of public transportation.
Required Skills
- Valid heavy vehicle driving license (Bus/Coach category) in Mauritius.
- Proven experience in professional driving, preferably in passenger transport.
- Impeccable driving record with no major violations or accidents.
- Excellent knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Strong understanding of local road networks in Rose Hill and surrounding areas.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for conducting pre-trip inspections and identifying minor issues.
- High level of patience, composure, and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a public transport bus driver.
- Completion of a defensive driving course.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Secondary School Certificate (Form V/SC or equivalent).
