Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty trucks to transport goods and materials over short and long distances.
- Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing and distribution to prevent damage.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including tires, lights, brakes, and fluid levels.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, rest periods, and mileage according to regulations.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery schedules and potential delays.
- Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Manage delivery documentation, including waybills, invoices, and proofs of delivery.
Required Skills
- Valid heavy vehicle driver's license (Mauritian Class 4/5/6)
- Proven experience as a truck driver, specifically in freight and goods transport.
- Excellent driving record with no major traffic violations.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and driving laws.
- Ability to operate various types of trucks (e.g., rigid, articulated).
- Physical fitness and stamina to handle long hours of driving and manual loading/unloading.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and highly responsible.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Certificate (SC/HSC) or equivalent.
- Certification in defensive driving or advanced driver training.
