Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy-duty trucks to transport goods and materials over short and long distances.
  • Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing and distribution to prevent damage.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including tires, lights, brakes, and fluid levels.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, rest periods, and mileage according to regulations.
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery schedules and potential delays.
  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and report any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Manage delivery documentation, including waybills, invoices, and proofs of delivery.

Required Skills

  • Valid heavy vehicle driver's license (Mauritian Class 4/5/6)
  • Proven experience as a truck driver, specifically in freight and goods transport.
  • Excellent driving record with no major traffic violations.
  • Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and driving laws.
  • Ability to operate various types of trucks (e.g., rigid, articulated).
  • Physical fitness and stamina to handle long hours of driving and manual loading/unloading.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and highly responsible.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Certificate (SC/HSC) or equivalent.
  • Certification in defensive driving or advanced driver training.
  • Experience with GPS and navigation software.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting.
