Leribe Lodge is seeking a dedicated Laundry Assistant to join our vibrant team in Mpharane, Leribe. This is an essential role, directly contributing to the comfort and satisfaction of our guests by ensuring all linen and staff uniforms are impeccably clean, fresh, and ready for use. You will be responsible for the full laundry cycle, from sorting soiled items to pressing and preparing fresh linen for distribution. Key Responsibilities
- Sort laundry items (linens, towels, uniforms) according to colour, fabric type, and level of soiling.
- Operate washing, drying, and ironing machines safely and efficiently, following manufacturer guidelines and lodge procedures.
- Pre-treat stains effectively, ensuring the removal of dirt and spots without damaging fabrics.
- Fold, press, and hang clean linen, ensuring it is neatly presented and ready for storage or immediate use.
- Monitor laundry supply levels and communicate needs to management to ensure continuous operation.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laundry equipment, reporting any malfunctions or repair needs promptly.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and hygiene standards within the laundry area.
- Assist with inventory management of linen, tracking damaged or missing items.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and tidy laundry environment at all times.
- Collaborate with housekeeping and other departments to ensure timely delivery of clean linen.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
- Good physical stamina, capable of standing for long periods and lifting moderate weights.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to follow instructions and manage simple records.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Ability to operate industrial laundry equipment or willingness to learn quickly.
- Understanding of basic hygiene and safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a laundry or housekeeping role, preferably within the hospitality sector.
