Job Description

This role as a Chef – Continental, Local & Fine Dining offers a unique opportunity to shape the gastronomic experience at a premier establishment in Moss Side, Manchester. We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate culinary professional capable of excelling across a diverse range of cooking styles, from sophisticated Continental dishes to authentic local specialities and refined fine dining creations. You will be instrumental in menu development, ensuring every dish reflects creativity, quality, and an exceptional dining experience. You will oversee all aspects of kitchen operations for your station, from ingredient selection and preparation to presentation and quality control, working collaboratively with the Head Chef and other team members to maintain a seamless and efficient service. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and oversee the preparation of Continental, Local, and Fine Dining dishes to the highest standards.
  • Contribute to innovative menu development and seasonal dish creation, incorporating fresh, high-quality ingredients.
  • Manage and maintain a specific kitchen section (e.g., larder, hot section, pastry), ensuring efficiency and consistency.
  • Monitor food stock levels, place orders, and manage inventory to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations (HACCP) within the kitchen.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Ensure proper presentation and garnishing of all dishes before serving.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head Chef and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service and guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work station and assist with overall kitchen cleanliness.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Chef in a professional kitchen setting.
  • Demonstrable expertise in Continental, Local (British/Manchester), and Fine Dining cuisine techniques.
  • Strong understanding of culinary trends, flavour profiles, and ingredient sourcing.
  • Exceptional knife skills and proficiency in various cooking methods.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate).
  • Creativity and a passion for culinary innovation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant culinary degree or professional chef qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Professional Cookery).
  • Experience in menu costing and supplier negotiation.
  • Leadership experience or experience mentoring junior chefs.
