Key Responsibilities
- Dispense prescribed medication accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper labeling and patient education.
- Provide comprehensive counseling to patients on medication usage, potential side effects, drug interactions, and general health and wellness.
- Perform clinical checks to ensure the appropriateness and safety of medication for each patient.
- Manage and maintain pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and secure storage of pharmaceuticals.
- Adhere strictly to all South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) regulations, ethical guidelines, and company policies.
- Supervise and mentor pharmacy assistants and other support staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
- Participate in health screening services and promotional campaigns, offering expert advice and encouraging preventive health measures.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally, resolving issues efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure data confidentiality.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care outcomes.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of pharmacy services and operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) degree or equivalent.
- Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Minimum of 3 years post-community service experience as a registered Pharmacist.
- Profound knowledge of pharmaceutical products, medical terminology, and dispensing practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong patient counseling and interpersonal skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software and general computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate diploma or specialization in a clinical pharmacy area.
- Experience in a busy retail pharmacy setting.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
- Fluency in additional South African languages (e.g., isiZulu).
- Experience with chronic disease management programs.
