Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of clothing alterations, repairs, and mending, including hemming, resizing, patching, and zipper replacement.
- Repair damaged garments, ensuring invisible repairs where possible, and maintaining the original look and integrity of the clothing.
- Measure and fit garments for customers, providing expert advice on alterations to achieve the perfect fit and desired style.
- Operate and maintain industrial and domestic sewing machines, overlockers, and other tailoring equipment safely and efficiently.
- Handle various fabric types, including delicate materials, leather, denim, and knits, with appropriate techniques.
- Manage customer interactions professionally, taking orders, providing estimates, and ensuring timely delivery of services.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment, including proper handling and storage of tools and materials.
- Keep accurate records of customer orders, measurements, and progress of repairs.
- Stay updated on current fashion trends, tailoring techniques, and fabric technologies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Tailor or Seamstress, with a focus on repairs and alterations.
- Exceptional proficiency in operating sewing machines (industrial and domestic) and other tailoring tools.
- In-depth knowledge of garment construction, fabric types, and repair techniques.
