Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Part-Time Medical Transcriptionist to join our network of talented professionals in the Malton, Mississauga area. This crucial role involves transcribing dictated medical reports, summaries, and correspondence into accurate, organized, and confidential patient records. As a Medical Transcriptionist, your work directly supports healthcare providers, ensuring the clarity, precision, and timely delivery of vital clinical documentation. You will be responsible for maintaining strict adherence to medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, and disease processes, alongside legal and ethical requirements regarding patient confidentiality. Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately transcribe dictated medical reports, patient histories, physicals, office notes, consultations, operative reports, discharge summaries, and other medical documents.
  • Review and edit transcribed reports for clarity, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and medical accuracy, ensuring compliance with established standards.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality (HIPAA/PHIPA) and adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines related to medical documentation.
  • Utilize medical reference materials, dictionaries, and software to ensure correct terminology and formatting.
  • Manage workload effectively to meet established deadlines and turnaround times for transcription services.
  • Communicate any issues or discrepancies in dictation quality or content to appropriate personnel.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with medical terminology, technological advancements, and regulatory changes.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
  • Exceptional listening and comprehension skills.
  • Superior typing speed and accuracy (e.g., 60+ WPM).
  • Proficiency with medical transcription software and word processing applications.
  • Strong command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and proofreading abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in Medical Transcription from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Familiarity with various dictation systems and voice recognition software.
  • Knowledge of Canadian healthcare regulations and privacy laws (e.g., PHIPA).
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is considered a strong asset.
