Key Responsibilities
- Perform general grounds keeping duties, including mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, and leaf blowing.
- Plant, cultivate, prune, and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and other plant materials.
- Operate and maintain various grounds maintenance equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools, ensuring safe and efficient use.
- Monitor the health of plants and turf, identifying and treating common diseases or pest infestations.
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides according to safety guidelines and environmental regulations.
- Maintain irrigation systems, including routine checks, minor repairs, and adjustments to ensure optimal water distribution.
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal, salting, and debris clearing during winter months.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project progress and potential issues.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping.
- Proficiency in operating a variety of grounds maintenance equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of horticulture, including plant identification, pruning techniques, and pest management.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all workplace regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Horticulture certificate or diploma.
