Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet and seat guests, presenting menus and explaining daily specials with confidence and enthusiasm.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders, utilizing point-of-sale (POS) systems efficiently.
  • Serve food and beverages promptly and courteously, ensuring high standards of presentation and hygiene.
  • Anticipate guests' needs and respond to inquiries or requests promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor table activity to ensure timely delivery of courses, refills, and clearing of used dishes.
  • Process payments accurately, handle cash and card transactions, and manage end-of-shift reports.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, including tables, chairs, and service stations.
  • Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and other front-of-house team members to ensure smooth service flow.
  • Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations, as well as restaurant policies and procedures.
  • Handle guest complaints or concerns with professionalism, escalating to management when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar restaurant or hospitality role.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Excellent command of English, both verbal and written.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service techniques.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 15 kg.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Hospitality Management or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Swahili or other local languages.
  • Experience with POS systems such as Micros, Aloha, or similar.
  • A keen interest in local cuisine and cultural heritage.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
