Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet and seat guests, presenting menus and explaining daily specials with confidence and enthusiasm.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders, utilizing point-of-sale (POS) systems efficiently.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and courteously, ensuring high standards of presentation and hygiene.
- Anticipate guests' needs and respond to inquiries or requests promptly and professionally.
- Monitor table activity to ensure timely delivery of courses, refills, and clearing of used dishes.
- Process payments accurately, handle cash and card transactions, and manage end-of-shift reports.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, including tables, chairs, and service stations.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and other front-of-house team members to ensure smooth service flow.
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations, as well as restaurant policies and procedures.
- Handle guest complaints or concerns with professionalism, escalating to management when necessary.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar restaurant or hospitality role.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Excellent command of English, both verbal and written.
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage service techniques.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 15 kg.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Hospitality Management or a related field.
- Proficiency in Swahili or other local languages.
- Experience with POS systems such as Micros, Aloha, or similar.
- A keen interest in local cuisine and cultural heritage.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
