Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive general medical care, consultations, and diagnoses to a diverse patient population.
- Manage chronic diseases, conduct health screenings, and promote preventative health strategies.
- Utilize specialist knowledge to provide advanced diagnostics, treatment plans, and referrals within your area of expertise.
- Lead or contribute to specialist clinics, fostering innovation and best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative staff.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
- Participate in clinical governance activities, audits, and service improvement initiatives.
- Engage in continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
- Offer empathetic and patient-centred care, ensuring clear communication and shared decision-making.
- Contribute to training and mentoring of junior medical staff or students, if applicable.
Required Skills
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.
- Inclusion on the GMC GP Register and/or Specialist Register.
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years post-qualification clinical experience, including significant GP or specialist practice.
- Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with patients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in using electronic patient record systems.
- Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- MRCGP qualification or equivalent specialist qualification.
- Additional postgraduate qualifications or experience in a sub-specialty area.
- Experience in leadership or service development within a primary or secondary care setting.
- Familiarity with local NHS systems and pathways in Manchester.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior medical staff.
