Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated Exploration Driller Assistant to join our dynamic team in Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia. This full-time, on-site position offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced drillers, gain hands-on experience with advanced drilling equipment, and play a pivotal role in projects that shape our understanding of the subsurface.

As an Exploration Driller Assistant, you will be an integral part of our drilling crew, responsible for supporting all aspects of drilling operations. Your day-to-day will involve assisting with the setup and dismantling of drilling rigs, handling and preparing drilling tools and materials, and maintaining a safe and organized worksite. This role is physically demanding and often requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a challenging, hands-on environment. You’ll learn valuable skills in geological sampling, equipment maintenance, and field safety protocols under the guidance of our expert drillers. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead driller with the safe and efficient setup, operation, and dismantling of various drilling rigs and associated equipment.
  • Handle, prepare, and organize drilling tools, rods, casings, and sampling equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe drilling site, adhering strictly to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on drilling equipment under supervision.
  • Assist in the collection and proper labeling of geological and environmental samples.
  • Operate support vehicles and equipment as required, ensuring compliance with traffic and safety regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients on site.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and contribute to a proactive safety culture.
  • Complete necessary fieldwork documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Support site demobilization and ensure proper storage of equipment.

Required Skills

  • Proven physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25 kg) and perform strenuous tasks for extended periods.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn about drilling equipment and processes.
  • Excellent adherence to safety regulations and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in challenging outdoor environments.
  • Valid German driver’s license (Class B or equivalent).
  • Basic understanding of German for site communication is highly preferred.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (1-2 years) in a physically demanding role, such as construction, agriculture, or mining.
  • Experience operating basic hand and power tools.
  • Forklift operator certification.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of basic geology or environmental sampling techniques.
