Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and feeding, whilst maintaining dignity and respect.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and escalate any concerns to nursing staff.
- Support patient mobility, assisting with transfers and ambulation as per care plans.
- Help patients with their nutritional needs, ensuring adequate fluid and food intake.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment for patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team, providing emotional support where needed.
- Document care provided accurately and promptly in patient records.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and company procedures.
- Assist with specific clinical tasks under the supervision of qualified nurses, as appropriate to training and competency.
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar care setting (minimum 12 months).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centred approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic IT literacy for record-keeping.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection in a healthcare setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care.
- First Aid certification.
- Training in Manual Handling and Basic Life Support.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations and complex needs.
