Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, with sensitivity and respect.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment and techniques, to ensure client safety and comfort.
- Support with medication administration, adhering strictly to care plans, protocols, and company policies.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding, ensuring dietary requirements and preferences are met.
- Undertake light household duties and maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for clients.
- Offer companionship, engage in meaningful conversations, and facilitate social activities to combat loneliness.
- Monitor and accurately report any changes in a client's physical health, mental well-being, or behaviour to the care manager.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date care records in accordance with data protection guidelines.
- Promote independence and choice, empowering clients to participate actively in their own care decisions.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a care assistant, support worker, or similar role, preferably with elderly or disabled individuals.
- Strong empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help and support others in their daily lives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport and trust.
- Ability to work independently, managing time effectively, and as a collaborative part of a dedicated team.
- Reliable, punctual, and highly organised with a professional approach to care delivery.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and health and safety regulations in a care setting.
- Basic IT literacy for accurate record-keeping and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) is highly desirable.
- Current First Aid certification.
- Experience supporting individuals with specific conditions such as dementia, Parkinson's, or physical disabilities.
- Full UK driving license with access to a reliable vehicle for community-based roles.
