Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker – Family & Community to join our esteemed network of social care professionals in Birmingham, England. This vital role involves working directly with families and individuals, providing comprehensive support, assessment, and intervention to promote well-being, ensure child protection, and strengthen community resilience. You will be instrumental in identifying needs, developing tailored support plans, and advocating for vulnerable individuals within a multi-agency framework.

As a Family & Community Social Worker, you will operate within a dynamic environment, dealing with a diverse range of complex cases. Your expertise will be crucial in undertaking holistic assessments, managing risk effectively, and implementing evidence-based interventions. We are looking for an individual with a profound understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in social work, coupled with an unwavering commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults. You will collaborate closely with other professionals, including health visitors, schools, police, and housing services, to deliver coordinated and person-centred care. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children, families, and individuals to identify needs, risks, and strengths.

  • Manage a diverse caseload of complex family and community cases, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
  • Provide direct support, advice, and guidance to service users, empowering them to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health, education, police, and voluntary sectors, to deliver integrated services.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and analytical reports for various purposes, including court proceedings and case conferences.
  • Participate in supervision, training, and professional development opportunities to maintain and enhance professional practice.
  • Adhere to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including child protection and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Represent the service in professional forums and advocate effectively for service users' rights and needs.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of social work practices and service delivery within the community.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
  • Demonstrable experience in family and community social work.
  • Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage complex situations.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures (e.g., Children Act 1989/2004, Care Act 2014).
  • Proficiency in record-keeping and report writing.
  • Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and promoting diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-qualifying award in Social Work.
  • Experience in court work and preparing for legal proceedings.
  • Familiarity with local Birmingham community resources and support networks.
