BDO Mauritius is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Full-Time Tax Consultant to join our vibrant team in Ebene, a key area within the Plaines Wilhems District. This pivotal role involves providing expert tax advice and compliance services to a diverse portfolio of local and international clients across various industries. As a Tax Consultant, you will be instrumental in assisting clients with intricate tax planning, ensuring adherence to the evolving Mauritian tax laws, and representing them in interactions with tax authorities. You will delve into complex corporate tax matters, personal income tax, VAT, and international tax treaties, offering strategic insights that drive value and mitigate risks.

You’ll be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax computations, advising on tax implications of business transactions, and supporting clients through tax audits and investigations. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive tax advice and consulting services to a diverse client base, including corporations and individuals.
- Prepare and review corporate and individual income tax computations and returns.
- Assist clients with tax planning strategies, ensuring compliance with local and international tax laws.
- Conduct tax research and analysis on complex tax issues, providing clear and practical solutions.
- Represent clients during tax audits, investigations, and interactions with the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA).
- Advise on indirect taxes such as VAT, including registration, compliance, and dispute resolution.
- Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation, regulations, and industry trends, and effectively communicate implications to clients.
- Collaborate with audit, advisory, and other service lines to provide integrated solutions to clients.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to their professional development.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their business needs and delivering exceptional service.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in tax consulting or a relevant tax role.
- Strong knowledge of Mauritian tax legislation (Income Tax Act, VAT Act, etc.).
- Proven ability to prepare and review complex tax computations and returns.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, CPA, ADIT, or a Master's degree in Taxation.
- Experience with international tax matters and double taxation agreements.
- Previous experience in a Big Four or a reputable consulting firm.
- Familiarity with tax software and accounting systems.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to manage client engagements.
