Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet guests upon arrival and departure, assisting with luggage handling from vehicles to guest rooms and vice versa.
  • Safely and efficiently transport guest luggage, parcels, and other items using appropriate equipment (e.g., luggage carts).
  • Provide clear directions and information regarding hotel facilities, services, and local attractions.
  • Assist guests with special requests, such as transportation arrangements, taxi services, and package delivery.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lobby, entrance, and luggage storage areas.
  • Collaborate effectively with front desk, concierge, valet, and housekeeping teams to ensure seamless guest service.
  • Adhere to all hotel safety and security procedures, including handling lost and found items.
  • Be knowledgeable about daily hotel operations, events, and guest needs.
  • Act as an ambassador for the hotel, always presenting a professional and courteous demeanor.

Required Skills

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to lift and carry heavy luggage (up to 50 lbs) frequently.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and push/pull for extended periods.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hotel, resort, or customer service role.
  • Knowledge of the Sapperton, New Westminster area and local attractions.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (an asset for assisting with valet services, though not mandatory for porter duties).
